Margery Caggiano is a new resident of Maryland, and currently an Instructor at The Academy Art Museum in Easton. Margery has been painting for many years, and has taught painting, drawing, and color theory- privately and at various art centers, including the Parrish Museum in Southampton, NY. Formerly an Adjunct Assoc. Professor of Art, she taught drawing and painting at Southampton College of Long Island University, Southampton NY. (Now CW Post). Her paintings are in more than 300 private and public collections, including Laurel Links Country Club, The Palm Restaurant in East Hampton, Purdue University, Roosevelt Raceway, the Chrysler Museum, the Heckscher Museum, and the New York State Museum at Albany. Early awards include a Medal of Honor- Audubon Artists Nat'l; Purchase Award - MAX24, Purdue Univ; First Prize- Long Island Artists, Hofstra Univ; Judges Award- Works on Paper, The Parrish Museum . Later awards include a MacDowell Fellowship, and a grant by the Creative Artists Public Service Program (CAPS), funded by the State of New York and the National Endowment for the Arts.
ART STUDIES: Painting with Paul Margin at the Greenwich St Workshop, Hempstead, NY , and photography with Bob Giard at Southampton College. Sporadic art classes and workshops at Nassau Comm. College NY, Pratt Institute NYC, and the Pratt Graphic Center NYC.
EXHIBITIONS: More than a dozen solo shows, ranging from Long Island to Cape Cod to NYC. Many group shows over the years, the latest being the Fort Wayne Museum of Art 2008 Biennial, "Contemporary American Realism", and "Mirrored Images", The Heckscher Museum, Huntington NY through March 24, 2013.
